How about those 2018 Winter Olympics? I think my house is like a lot of others because we're consumed with watching the winter games! At least it sounds like from what I've been reading on the social media that an lot of my friends are really in to the games. What appeals to me is seeing all the country's come together to compete in winter sports and see who's the best!  No threats of guns, missiles, or other violence is involved which makes it even better although the hockey game between the USA and Russia was quite heated to say the least. I have to marvel at how those young athletes train and work so hard to become so good at what they do! While watching the Men's and Woman's cross country skiing I got to thinking how hard that must be to go that long of a time to reach a goal and It appears to have some sort of rhythm to it too. My original sketch idea was done during the games with the idea of lights appearing just above the pine trees. I think as an athlete you get to see and experience an lot of beauty around the countryside while out training. That's how the inspiration for my latest watercolor painting came about. When it came time to pick out a title for my painting it required some thought because several of them sounded good. In the end, I  picked Cross County Skiing since that's what it all about. This watercolor painting is currently available on my website. www.donwhitesel.com
