Shape maker and entertainer

Hibiscus
The morning is my favorite time of day when the early light has a strong effect on things. In fact both dawn and dusk are great times for the artist to be out to see more dramatic lighting. It's funny because most people wouldn't think that artists are early risers, but they are. I remember growing up and spending a lot of time observing my surroundings. I wasn't much of a talker and would spend a lot of time looking at the shapes of things and their movement. The relationship one object has with another is fascinating and artists are shape makers! Which is something I learned from a couple of my well known mentors (Tony Couch, and Tony Van Hasselt) and comes from the Edgar Whitney Watercolor School on design. Positive and negative shapes! lite against dark are all things we look to capture and can be found every where. The artists job is to entertain the viewer and their eyes. When we look at a good painting an feel something that's the feeling that the artist intended.
