In His Glory

In His Glory
In His Glory

One of the best memories I have is when my Grandfather would ask me to accompany him to the Newsstand while he picked up the New York Times. While waiting I would pass the time and look at the field and game magazines. I was always enthralled by the art and different well known artists like Ned Smith and their work. It was fun to look at all those magazine covers so it's only natural that wildlife art would be one of my big interest and subjects as an artist.

My wife and I both enjoy looking for deer early in the early morning or late evening towards dusk. An area close by our home where we live has a place that's protected and outside of that are some nearby homes as well. The average Sportsman or Outdoorsman know the Deer are there and stop just to observe and watch them as we do. We're not talking about just 8 or 10 Whitetail but rather 70 to 80 headcount at least. One of the nearby homes actually feeds the deer so they come right up to his house. As an artist an avid Outdoorsman it's a real Delight to see these wild animals and how they move about.

Often times in the morning when we have off work and perhaps returning from Breakfast out we'll stop and see a whole field full of them! It's great! I've heard stories about several large buck in the area but haven't spotted them as of yet. What a treat it would be to see one or two with a full rack in all their glory looking for food. Still seeing that many Whitetail Deer is spectacular. My painting titled In His Glory measures 15 X 22 and was painted on 300-pound arches acid-free watercolor paper. www.donwhitesel.com
