Coastal Serenity
Coastal Serenity

I was watching a movie on TV just the other night. When I realized it had been a while since I wrote a new art blog. I thought it would be good to talk about what I've been doing lately. In the springtime I like to usually paint a coastal or a beach scene. Naturally my favorite subject is the beautiful New England coast. I don't typically paint a colorful sunrise or sunset. So that's exactly what I painted. I like how the painting turned out. Feeling the fresh coastal air and breathing it in. Enjoying the coast is fantastic on any day. Then my mind turned back to a conversation I had awhile back with my friend Michelle. She commented about my painting a Florida painting or something with palmtrees in it.  So my other painting pictured is what I painted as a result of her suggestion. I like how it too turned out and will be doing more. In fact I think painting a shrimp boat might be a good idea too. I hope to expand and paint more subjects and focus on the Rocky Mountains and more wildlife as well. Plus, it's been a while since I worked in acrylics and thought I would give it a try again as well. So, I hope you'll follow along for the adventure. Don Whitesel artist
