Blog

I'm looking forward to fall weather like the cooler nights and mild days. Plus, Football season is in full swing and that's pretty exciting. Getting to spend more family time and things at a slow pace is different for a change but, great. I hope to find more studio time too in fact I'm already to start a new winter scene painting. I'll admit painting fall colors is a bit of a challenge for me for some reason. Perhaps I'm thinking about it a bit too much. Watercolor painting for me is sometimes at its best when I'm on autopilot. The painting pictured titled "One Autumn Day" reminded on one of those times when you're out enjoying a nice fall day. Then suddenly you realize you're not alone and have a curious visitor. At least that's how Whitetail are here in the northeast are they love to watch their surroundings. One day just last year whole I was out in the country at someone's house and a Deer appeared almost one cue. I'm pretty sure that's how the idea was inspired for this painting by just seeing one of God's creatures appear like magic. Seeing wildlife is fun and lots of enjoyment plus it's a real treat to paint and capture the moment in time. Moving forward I'll try better to maintain my blog and keep everyone up to date. All the best. Don Whitesel www.donwhitesel.com
